Take admission for entry using electronic till system
Provide relevant museum literature
Provide an introductory talk to visitors bringing the history to life by explaining the connections of the house to Charles Dickens and its many stories
Answer any visitor queries
Encourage sales in the gift shop and replenish stock ensuring everything is well presented
Cash handling and card sale processing
Recording visitor data including visitor numbers and nationalities
Assisting the house manager with any day to day tasks, this could include wiping down display cabinets, replenishing leaflets and pricing stock .

Interest in local heritage - Charles Dickens and his works. Experience in customer facing role is desirable but training will be provided. Experience using a till system is desirable but training will be provided. Friendly outlook and enjoy talking to and meeting people Ability to work well in a team

Dickens House Museum is a great place to volunteer. By joining our team you will meet many interesting and inspiring people. As well as volunteering in a house of historical importance. You will gain valuable experience into the heritage sector that could help you progress to further employment. Training will be be available for the role but also further training offered to widen your knowledge base. Plus share and indulge in your passion, increase your wellbeing, attend unique events.

Easter 7th April - 16th July - Wednesday to Sunday Summer Holidays - 19th July - 3rd September - Daily Autumn 6th September - 29th October - Wednesday - Sunday Volunteer shifts are 12.45pm to 4.30pm Ideally one shift a week. However we are happy to discuss one shift fortnightly or monthly. We host pre/close of season catch up.
